Belarusian State University

The Belarusian State University (BSU), founded in 1921, is the main educational and scientific establishment in the Republic of Belarus. It includes 17 faculties, the State Institute of Management and Social Technologies, Institute of Business and Administration Technologies, Institute of Theology named after Sts. Cyril and Methodius, the BSU lyceum and the law college. Three scientific research institutes, five national scientific centers, and 14 unitary scientific and production enterprises are also in the university structure.

The BSU staff is over 8.500 members including more than 3.000 lecturers, 400 doctors of science, 1.600 candidates of science (PhD), four academicians, and 12 corresponding members of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. More than 24.000 students study in 57 specialities on 200 specializations.

The Belarusian State University contributed much to the foundation and development of the National Academy of Sciences, the Republic’s State Library and a number of large research institutions.

The efforts of university scholars have always been focused on fundamental sciences. A number of centers of national and international importance were created within the university to research problems of physics, environmental monitoring, applied mathematics, computer science, etc.

The significance of the university as a production-innovation center is increasing in the international market. The BSU was awarded 21 medals and 11 diplomas for its high-tech science intensive production at international exhibitions.
